So Sabbath was great. All of us teachers from Kuolai headed to Quinhua for a family gathering. We met in an apartment for discussion and awesome chocolate chip cookies. Afterward we all went to a great Vietnamese restaurant - it was delicious. That place sure knows how to make food! Next several of us went to the beach to do some walking and exploring. I forget the beaches name, but it is close to Danshui and starts with a "B". Anyhow, up past the beach are some abandoned buildings that we explored until about sunset. We then headed back to the Quinhua apartments for some card games and tea. To top the day off we headed to a little pizzeria tucked away in town. Again it was some fantastic food.
Sunday I decided to rent a bike and ride along the river. Taiwan has miles and miles of paved bike paths - and people love to use them. There are lots of basketball courts, baseball fields, and tennis courts lining the paths as well. Really it is just one really long park or green way along the river. Hundreds of people were out using the community space. It was great.
Today (Tuesday) I finished writing my lesson plans by noon. Next I headed out with Sandy to explore some local waterfalls and trails. It was a lot of fun. Some leaches hiked with me for several miles...made my sock look like I had really injured myself!
Great things are happening here in Taiwan!
I've never had a leech on me. How do you get them off? Don't get infected. Sounds like a lot of good fun places to explore!
