Above Zhuwei - hidden treasures
Wish you guys could have been here. Unfortunately I did not bring a camera with me on my hike today. I was initially planning to scooter around, but then I decided I needed a bit of exercise, so I went walking. I started up a road that heads up the mountains, but took a detour up a really steep staircase. I wouldn't have noticed the staircase, but someone came down it right as I was passing. As I went up I crossed a handful of high schoolers apparently leaving school. I reached a Buddhist shrine and thought that it was part of a school that the kids came from. I almost turned around but decided to follow the narrow staircase towards what I thought would be the back of a courtyard...it was a street. That's it. So I followed the street, still going up the nice incline of the mountain. I saw more students now, most of them not heading towards this obscure path but walking along several streets. My feet guided me up the hill some more, around a few corners, and basically walking next to cars and scooters coming down the road. Then I saw it. The obvious gate leading into the school. That was on the left. On the right I saw some large cow like animals apparently mowing some grass in a sort of park. There was no desire in my heart to actually head into the school, so I headed toward the park. The grassy area sloped down to a little road below. As I headed down I noticed some very interesting sculptures...then it hit me, I had been here once before. I was with Robert and he brought us here to show us the University where his wife graduated from. It is a beautiful campus, with some amazing views of Taipei. I traced my way to a cafe on the campus where I remembered looking down onto Taipei with Robert. I stood there for ten minutes just gazing. It was so cool, so fun, so romantic. Wish you could have been there.
