What I Do - Why I'm Here

The first time I heard about these schools here in Taiwan was after I talked to an entrepreneur who gave a presentation for one of my business classes. I had talked to him about some small business ideas that I had and somehow the conversation got around to the entrepreneur talking about his plans to go to Taiwan and teach English and start a small business. He gave me Angela's email. I inquired as to what it was all about and discovered that Robert, the COO of AEH (Adventist Education Holdings), was going to be in town and I could talk to him in person (which I did). Just like that I was sold and on the path to Taiwan.

I am working for the Taiwan Government in a program that is designed to make English fun and interesting for 5th graders. Each week a new group of 5th graders comes to our school to spend a week in a summer camp setting to learn and have fun with English. AEH does the recruitment and hiring and assists on many other levels too.

Each day I teach two classes to three separate teams of kids (we will have between 50 and 60 kids at the camp at a time). We have some group activities in the morning and in the evening too. Each evening we also sing songs, play some games, and do a skit for the kids.

It is pretty straight forward. The part that changes each week is that you have a new group of kids and different names to memorize, otherwise it is the same.
