Christmas Eve - Biking, Flowers, and Trees

Today was split into three parts: Biking from Guandu to Danshui, visiting the International Flower Expo, and finally a walk around Taipei 101 and taking photos of Christmas trees.

First the biking. That was a much shorter trip than I anticipated. Before I knew it I was sitting at the end of the trail at the edge of the ocean...that's when it hit me, my backpack was gone! Okay, my first thought was to the group of kids who had been laughing nearby a little earlier. Could one of them come up behind me, cut both straps, snuck the pack off of my back without me even noticing? Then I thought about the last time I opened my backpack. It was at the beginning of the trip when I got my camera out. I remembered setting it down on the wharf, but I had no clear recollection of picking it back up. So I scadoodled back that way, and wouldn't you know it - it was just sitting there on the wharf looking cold and stranded.

On my way home I decided to see the Flower Expo. I've passed it several times and there is a lot of press around for it, so I thought I should stop. It was neat, but not that neat. I was envisioning floats and exotic species. What I got was artistic set ups and 10 types of flowers. It was okay.

Finally I connected with some co-workers to do a Christmas Tree walk. It didn't help that I was tired from my long day already, but I still had fun.

Here are some photos:
Guandu Wharf. My backpack enjoyed this view for several hours.

They love cycling this much.

I got some lunch from this breakfast place. Nice owners.

Temple to some goddess of the sea. Weird story, come read it on the wall if you're interested.

Nice facade :)

The stadium bleachers were covered with flowers - lots of flowers.

Enjoy some flowers under the super macro setting.

It was a special Christmas show...lots of poinsettias.

We searched near and far for the best Christmas tree. What's your vote?
